The Engineers Joint Contract Documents Committee (EJCDC) will be publishing a new document series this spring, the 2020 Construction Manager as Advisor (CMA) Series. A Construction Manager as Advisor provides assistance to the project owner in administering the construction contract, and also provides pre-construction services such as cost estimating. An engineering company (Engineer) prepares the design.
EJCDC will also be publishing 2020 editions of several of its Engineering Series documents, including EJCDC® E‑500 (2020), Agreement between Owner and Engineer for Professional Services, and EJCDC® E‑570 (2020), Agreement between Engineer and Subconsultant for Professional Services.
The new CMA series includes an Owner–Construction Manager as Advisor Agreement which presents a typical scope of CMA services, and various construction contract documents that assign roles and duties to the Construction Manager as Advisor and the Engineer with respect to the work of the construction contractor. To coordinate the construction-phase roles of the Construction Manager as Advisor and the Engineer, EJCDC has also included in the series a special CMA edition of Exhibit A, Engineer’s Services, for use with EJCDC E‑500 (2020), the Owner-Engineer Agreement.
