This tool provides a brief background discussion related to the challenges and opportunities in the recruitment and retention of employees, in particular those of the Millennial (born between 1981 and 1996) and Generation Z (born between 1996 and 2012) generations. These generations are quickly becoming the majority in the work force and understanding their values and goals related to their professional life and satisfaction will be critical for all engineering firms now and even more so in the future. The benefits that these generations value most may be significantly different than those of previous generations. This will require firms to adapt and change in order to be successful.
