Ownership Transition and Management Succession Challenges Facing A/E Firms - Webinar on Survey Results, Trends, and Best Practices

FMI Capital Advisors and ACEC Research Institute collaborated on a comprehensive survey of the ACEC community on ownership transition and management succession (OTMS) issues. The goal of this project is to shed light on how architecture and engineering (A&E) firms prepare to transition both company ownership and management responsibilities in comparison to peer companies across the A&E landscape. Our findings paint a mixed picture of how well companies of all sizes are tackling ownership transition and developing and preparing their future leaders.

Please join Greg Powell, head of FMI’s A/E/Env. Investment Banking practice, and Jake Appelman, head of FMI’s Management Succession Consulting practice, in a discussion on the important OTMS issues and trends facing A&E firms today and how leaders are addressing these challenges. In this presentation, we will:

Discuss what the survey results revealed about how A&E peer companies are executing ownership transition and how well prepared they are to navigate this path.
Take a closer look at how company size impacts the understanding of (and approaches to) ownership transition.
Consider how the COVID-19 crisis is impacting OTMS strategies.
Walk through how effectively A&E firms are preparing future leaders across the organization and highlight important blind spots uncovered by our survey.
Discuss best practices for management succession and leadership development to strengthen a firm across multiple generations.
