CAMEE Tool 6-1 – Submittal Checklists
The latest addition to the CAMEE Best Practice Toolkit: CAMEE Tool 6-1 – Submittal Checklists.
The checklists in Tool 6-1 are designed to assist ME/EE (mechanical/electrical) engineers in planning and execution of each submittal phase by focusing on what deliverables are required for each phase. These checklists apply to most projects. Some owners may have additional requirements for submittals which are typically referenced in the design contract. Prior to starting the project it is recommended that you discuss the items in each list with the owner to determine if all items are applicable and if there any items that they would like included currently not on the list. This process allows the ME/EE engineer to better understand the needs of their client, set the foundation for open communication on the project and help identify issues early in the design process.
These checklists were created to ensure a smoother project delivery and encourage collaboration between multiple disciplines. Each of the three checklists, Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Documents lists out items needed from the electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and telecom engineers. Engineers from each discipline can see what is expected of them and know what to expect from others. The checklists also call out items that are required from the Architect prior to starting each phase to ensure that engineers have the information needed.
